Elena Medel
Elena Medel (Córdoba, 1985), poet and literary critic, is one of the prominent emerging voices in Spanish poetry. From 2006 to 2008 she held the prestigious scholarship given by the infamous Resedencia de Estudiantes in Madrid. She is part of the founding board of La Bella Varsovia and writes for numerous literary supplements in the Spanish press, including El Correo de Andalucía, El País, Espacio Luke, La Tormenta en un Vaso and Mercurio. Her poetry, gathered in the collections Mi primer bikini [My First Bikini] (DVD, 2002), which won the Premio Andalucía Joven in 2001; Vacaciones [Vacations] (El Gaviero Ediciones, 2004); Tara [Tara] (DVD, 2006); and the chapbook Un soplo en el corazón [A Murmur in the Heart] (Ediciones del 4 de agosto - Colección Planeta Clandestino #47, 2007), has been translated into Arabic, English, Italian and Portuguese, as well as published in numerous anthologies.
