Biography

Ishion Hutchinson was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica. His second book, House of Lords and Commons (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2016) won the 2016 National Book Critics Circle Award in Poetry. His first collection, Far District (Peepal Tree Press, 2010), won the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award. Hutchinson received a Whiting Writer’s Award in 2013, and was a 2014 Lannan Literary Fellow. He is the Meringoff Sesquicentennial Assistant Professor of English at Cornell University and a contributing editor to the literary journal, Tongue: A Journal of Writing & Art.
