Biography

Anthony Deaton is currently the Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Windhoek, Namibia. He has worked as a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. diplomatic corps, currently posted as Vice Consul to Naples, Italy from 2005-2007. Then as a Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Damascus, Syria from 2008-2010. His past awards include the Nation/Discovery Award for poetry, The Campbell Corner Poetry Prize, and an artist grant from the Connecticut Commission of Culture and Tourism. His poems have appeared in journals including The Gettysburg ReviewThe NationThe Paris Review, and The Southeast Review. Some of the poems presented here appeared in his collection Rhumb Lines, a fine arts letterpress book published by Sutton Hoo Press.
