Biography

Curtis Bauer has published poems and translations in Fulcrum, The Dirty Goat, The American Poetry Review, The Indiana Review, Circumference, and The Southern Review. He has been a finalist for the New Letters Poetry Prize, The Willis Barnstone Translation Prize, and The Glimmer Train Poetry Open. He won the John Ciardi Poetry Prize for his first poetry collection, Fence Line (BkMk Press, 2004). His second collection, The Real Cause for Your Absence, was published in spring 2013 by C&R Press. and his third collection, American Selfie, is forthcoming from Barrow Street Press in May 2019. His translation of Eros Is More, from the Spanish of Juan Anotnio González Iglesias, was published by Alice James Books in 2014, and his latest translation, Image of Absence, from the Spanish of Jeannette Clariond was published by The Word Works, International Editions in 2019. He teaches creative writing and comparative literature at Texas Tech University and is the publisher of Q Avenue Press Chapbooks. Curtis also sits on the Fishouse board of directors, and is the Spanish translations editor for the growing Fishouse translations section.
