Tina Pisco

Biography

Tina Pisco is a professional writer with over twenty-five years of writing experience in every medium except for radio. Before moving to Ireland in 1992, she had a successful career in the Brussels press corps as a journalist and television news and documentary writer/producer. Since moving she has published two best-selling novels, Only a Paper Moon and Catch the Magpie (both Poolbeg), as well as a collection of her newspaper columns, A West Cork Life(RandomAnimals Press). She still writes regularly for newspapers, books, television and magazines as well as working as a teacher and editorial consultant for literary contests including the FISH short story prize.

In 2009, Tina took up the post of Writer-in-Residence at Tigh Fili, in Cork city. During her residency she worked on her first collection of poetry: She be (Bradshaw Books, 2010). Last year she was awarded an EACEA grant to translate the poetry collection of the young Andalusian poet Manuel Arrana: Adolescencia Dos/Poemas Hormonados, which will be published by Bradshaw Books in October 2011.

Tina Pisco is a regular on the performance poetry circuit in Ireland and is a founder of Catch the Moon, a female performance poetry group, and Gifted Eccentric, an experimental performance project combining poetry and music.
